Accessing Social Care (RAS)
From 1st December 2008 the Common Assessment Framework (CAF) will replace the inter agency referral form for referrals into Social Services. There will be a period of transition and then from April 1st 2009 the Inter agency referral form will no longer be accepted. This will not delay Safeguarding referrals which should be made immediately as before (RAS – 020 8770 4343) and then followed up with a CAF within 24 hours. The CAF itself, together with a Service Request Top sheet and guidance notes can be found below.

You can fax RAS (020 8770 4798) or post to

You can also email securely on the email address below as long your agency is signed up to cjsm.net. If in doubt ask first.

There are several advantages to using the CAF to support referrals to Social Services. It will provide improved, holistic informatio which will assist decision making, ensure consistency in terms of paperwork  used to access services across the borough and bring us into line with our neighbours Merton  who have been using the CAF to refer to Social Services for over two years.  For support and guidance including additional training if required contact Grant Landon on  020 8404 1999 or the email address below

Sutton's Children & Young People's Plan 2008 - 2009

The Children and Young People's Plan identifies the needs and priorities of children and young people in Sutton and explains how the Council and its partners will work together to meet those needs over the next three years, with specific actions for the next twelve months.

In particular the Children and Young People's Plan seeks to:

  • extend and further develop our preventative and early intervention strategies and services;
  • ensure that the most vulnerable, challenging or disadvantaged children and young people are given every opportunity to succeed;
  • develop still more integrated and secure approaches to safeguarding and protecting children and promoting their welfare.

Sutton Local Safeguarding Children Board

Sutton Local Safeguarding Children Board's main role is to ensure there are good & robust systems in place in the borough so that children are safeguarded, their welfare is promoted and agencies co-operate to acheive this.

This all relies on a well informed and well trained workforce that understands the roles and responsibilities of all agencies working with children and their families as well as those of their own.

Sutton LSCB provides the following annual multi-agency training programme in order to increase the knowledge, skills and awareness of that workforce. An application form is included as well as information about suitability and eligibility of each course. Any enquiries should be addressed to Linda Clark, LSCB Training Administrator on 8770 4023
